Where Have The Good Old Days Gone?

Talking about the good old days
The older generation always talks about the good old days. How they could go to the store and buy things for 5 and 10 cents. How they walked everywhere they went and weren't worried about getting kidnapped or killed. How when they needed help their neighbors, friends and family were always there to lend a helping hand.
My good old days? I remember going to the store and being able to buy a can drink for 50 cents. I remember when gas was 99 cents a gallon. When I was younger I knew all my neighbors and they always lent a helping hand. Us kids played outside with no worries.
So my question is where have the good old days gone? What will our children talk about when they talk about their good old days? Will they say "Yeah I remember when gas was 4 dollars a gallon and milk was 5 dollars a gallon". Will they know their neighbors?
Todays world
Where is the world going today? I don't know all of my neighbors anymore. Most of them won't even wave as they pass by my house and i'm outside. With all the crime in the world today and high prices are the good old days gone? In todays world I would be afraid to walk to town if I had to. Will things get better? What is ahead for our children. Todays world worries me. Sometines I wish we could go back to a simpler time. Times where things weren't high and people cared about other people. Back to the good old days.

I often wonder where the good old days have gone also.Great hub:)
Sad but true. I have some of the same mamories of growing up in a neighborhood where everybody knew eachother and everyone looked out for eachother. Our parents would all get together, sit outside and talk and laugh until the street lights came on. All fo us kids would be playing some game like jail break or dodge ball or whatever. Once the street lights came on, all the kids had to be in and ready for a bath and pj's. It felt like a much safer world back then. I miss it :o)
